Man rushed to hospital after being hit by train at south London station

South Western lines have been closed this morning (December 16) following the incident.

The station has been taped off by police, with no access allowed to the general public.

Ambulances including a London Air Ambulance were called to the scene, and a man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital as a priority.

His condition is unknown at this time.

The British Transport Police has been approached for further information.

Several ambulances are parked near the station, with sirens blaring from all the different vehicles.

Crowds of people have also gathered outside the station to witness the operation this morning.

At the time of reporting, disruption is expected to last until 11.30am according to National Rail, but this could be extended to later in the day.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.15am today (16 December) to reports of a person hit by a train at Kingston Station, KT1.

“We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a man and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
