Ian Wornast – A journey Through Kingston Launch Event

21 June @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

A Journey Through Kingston presents an original large-scale drawing by London-based ActionSpace artist Ian Wornast as part of the Kingston 2025 festival.

Thursday 19th June – Saturday 19th July

Following a series of research trips to Kingston upon Thames, Ian has interwoven references to the local area and the town’s history, constructing a landscape that centres on the idea of journeying in his unique graphic artistic style.

This vivid drawing has been commissioned for a permanent public artwork, forming part of the new Unilever Campus in Kingston. The artwork has been commissioned by Cube Real Estate, following a selection process chosen by a local community panel and the project development team. The project architects are Darling Associates.

Ian Wornast: Urban Connections through Art

ActionSpace artist Ian Wornast brings a distinctive perspective to the evolving landscape of London through his graphic, yet deeply personal, artistic approach. With a passion for the city’s transport system and its ever-changing infrastructure, Ian’s work celebrates the intricate connections that shape our urban environment. His drawings are not just visual representations—they are explorations of the past, present, and future of the city, rendered in his unique graphic style.

With a keen eye for detail, Ian captured the essence of London’s transport and architectural developments, transforming them into bold patterns and shapes. His use of colours and design elements from Transport for London (TFL) added a layer of complexity to his work, where each line and form symbolised a connection, a journey, and a place in the city’s vibrant narrative.

Ian’s artwork is instantly recognisable for its striking lines, geometric patterns, and the incorporation of TFL’s iconic logos. But beyond this immediate visual impact, his practice is marked by constant evolution. His art invites viewers to look deeper—into the artwork itself, and also at the world around them.
